Aryanna Epperson is not your usual girl-on-TV.
Fun, feisty, confident, and cute — that’s 1-Minute Vlogger/VJ Aryanna Epperson for you. Coming from an artistic family, it’s no wonder she’s a natural at being on cam. In fact, she worked the cam so well, our shoot with her was such a breeze. The first thing you notice about Aryanna is the bright, self-assured energy she brings into a room, which she says comes from a place of self-love. Here are some self-care facts we learmed from the vlogger while she bust out the poses for The Convo.
You're a VJ and you've made over a hundred of videos on your 'gram! Have you always been this comfortable on cam?
I’ve always been comfortable in front of the camera — I literally grew up in front of it because my dad is a photographer and my mom is a stylist. Being a VJ definitely helped in boosting my on-cam confidence. Also, I’ve been making videos since I was 12 years old and now, it feels like second nature to me. There’s something weirdly comforting about me talking to a camera rather than a room full of people.
What got you into presenting and making videos?
I’ve always been shy and introverted but keep busy by staying creative may it be through taking photos, writing, putting on makeup, or vlogging. I’ve known that I wanted to share my thoughts with a wider audience. I feel like creating videos is one of my strengths and decided to make it my medium of communication. I focused on what I was good at rather than following social media trends. In 2013, I started on YouTube by vlogging about art, food, travel and soon beauty and since early 2018, I’ve been producing 1-minute #AryannaInAMinute vlogs on my Instagram page to share quick and easy makeup or skincare tutorials or random musings in my life.
We know we made you speak on cam for a lil bit! What do/did you do to soothe your voice especially speaking on screen is your business?
Girl, the tea is literally TEA. I drown myself with Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat, lozenges, and try not to talk the whole day. I’m realizing now that I have to take care of my voice even more by modulating it, sleeping earlier, avoiding super cold drinks, or going out the night before work. Because we are young, we feel like we are invincible but we should remember to take everything in moderation and to invest wisely in our health.
Speaking of taking care of yourself, what is self-love and/or self-care to you?
Self-love for me is about investing in myself — improve while still embracing who I am and being grateful for what I have.
In what ways do you make sure you give yourself enough of it -- beyond just the usual face mask or beauty rituals?
One word: Sleep.
How do you give yourself a confidence boost during the times you need it?
I feel like I have high self-esteem as I’m comfortable in my own skin. However, being shy and anxious sometimes prevents me from being my best self. There are two things I do when I’m feeling down: First, I need to psyche myself up, breathe and just believe by taking a leap of faith everything will be alright.
We know you're a beauty girl at heart. What's your number one beauty skill you can probably do with your eyes closed?
Winged eyeliner fo’sho. It’s a skill I never thought I could master, but after many years of blood, sweat, tears, and practice, my cat eye achievement has finally been unlocked, haha.
